Ahhh... so nice to have gotten some sleep. Katelyn woke up several times last night, but that's to be expected... especially with them checking her vitals and other stuff. She hasn't had any pain meds since 12:30am, so she's doing great. She ate breakfast and is watching cartoons right now. She is in a much better mood than she was yesterday, and she's not even fussing about being connected to all the machines and all. We're hoping to take out the catheter later today because that's really been annoying her. The neurosurgeon should be in a little later to check her out and see what we should do next.
UPDATE
Neurosurgeon would like to keep the catheter in today. He's concerned that if we take it out, the diaper might leak up into the incision. He's also thinking that Katelyn will be able to get out of bed tomorrow!!!! We're moving to a private room on the 3rd floor later... out of the special care unit and onto a regular floor.

She's quite a trooper. I'm so pleased to read how well she's doing despite being connected to all the equipment and being confined with her mobility. This is wonderful news.
Great news! We continue to think of all of you and pray for a speedy recovery! With love, The Schaefer Family
