Courtney UPDATE!!!!!!!!!

YAY!!! We finally got an update on Courtney!!! Here's what it said:

Dang Jiao Yang

11/23/2009 Update (22 months old)

Medical/Development:
She is doing great. She has been very healthy over the past few months. No concerns.
She is walking with assistance and cruising the furniture independently. She can name her toys, animals, people and familiar objects, etc.

She is bilingual in both Mandarin and English, understands instructions in both languages and speaks a little of each too. Speaks clearly and easily understood. Words I heard her speak in English- star, mama, bye, fish, tv and dog. In mandarin, xie xie, zai jian, guo, ayi. She has not really learned her colors yet, but she likes to sing, count a little and dance. Yes, she wears her leg braces the day, but not at night. She currently can only take a few steps unassisted. She does cruise the furniture quite freely and she has no problem walking pushing a small walker for balance.

Personality:
They call her Yang Yang, she also refers to herself as Yang Yang. Yang Yang is a very happy and easy going child, who is always smiling and singing to herself. She is very talkative and expressive, although it is not always easy to understand what she is saying – still like baby babble at times. Her speech is clear when she is asked specific questions.

She loves to explore and discover new things. She is extremely inquisitive, looking for new things to do and see. She is always moving and busy. She likes watching tv – especially Barney and The Fimbles in Chinese. She dances when she hears music or someone sings to her – ‘head and shoulders, knees and toes’. She is not afraid of meeting new people. She likes animals and feeds the fish in the nearby lake every day. She loves to be outside and enjoys playing with a ball. She enjoys reading books and magazines, turning the pages and pointing to familiar items. She only gets upset when she does not get her own way. She is quite independent and a little bossy. Yang is a bit willful and likes to do what she wants to do.

Adoption/Foster Care:
The foster home consists of the foster mom and foster dad, a child care ayi and a cleaning ayi. Yang Yang interacts with all four happily. The foster Home family does not have any children. Yang Yang has been with the same family since Summer 2008. Yes, she has received the care package from her family and was wearing a hair bow from her new family. Yes, she has seen the photos of the family. She received her Baobei mouse today (a small Baobei toy).
